A handsome cast brass traditional doctor's door knocker is marked by Virginia Metalcrafters & dating from the 1930's. The door knocker retains its original, beautifully aged patina, & features stepped design. Legend has it that this style of a door knocker was used in England to identify the door where the town's doctor lived so a person who needed medical attention could easily determine where to go for help.
