This hand turned bowl has a music box hidden underneath it. The label says, "Reveil de Cavalerie" & there is a hand written in pencil "6/04". June of 1904?? It possibly could be from the looks of the music box controls, & the small finishing nails do not have divots in them. It is much, much older than similar ones I have seen listed. The bowl has a grape leaf pattern carved in the bottom, & is stained a different color than the bowl (or not stained at all) The outside rim of the bowl has cutouts the same color. The music box works. You turn the wind-up & then gently pull out the little knob to start it. A few times I had to wiggle it a bit. It has some scratches & scuffs, but nothing deep & the inside of the dish is perfect. I am not sure what song they mean by "Reveil de Cavalerie", but it is not the military "Reveille" to wake the troops. It is a minuet, & does sound familiar. It is 3.75 inches tall & 6.25 inches diameter. I refund all shipping overcharges greater than $1. I do accept returns with a 10% restocking fee.
