Hey Diddle Diddle, Limoges Box, HTF, Madame Alexander, 8" Doll, Dish, Spoon, Nursery Rhyme, Box, Wrist Tag, Paperwork was produced in 2004 for 2005 release. Good condition original box with nice overall finish & shape, clear label, minimal shelf wear confined to near invisible lid top corner crease imperfections that do not detract in any significant way. Photos of sold doll shown accurately depict this current doll for sale in every regard & detail, including condition of the ceramic Limoges. The tiny dot on one moon eye was corrected on the sold doll & is not present here. Wrist tag is included as well. (NOTE: Doll descriptive details in 2nd paragraph). Restringing was not needed due to proper care/storage. Hair retains original set & ribbon headband. As new, soft sculpture dish & spoon accessories with wire limbs are in opened plastic bag still stapled to liner. They are as new. All garments & undergarments, trims, as well as shoes & shoe soles are exemplary. I was fortunate to find matching ceramic Limoges box by Madame Alexander, signed on bottom of base in gold metallic lettering & circa 2000. It has a hinged lid, hollow inside, & shallow base. It was made for this doll set but optional, purchased separately, but included in the shop price, which is only $10.00 higher that price of sold doll. Theories abound about the meaning of the lyric's, but of special interest is that "over the moon" originated with this rhyme. Hey, diddle diddle, The cat & the fiddle The cow jumped over the moon. The little dog laughed to see such sport & the dish ran away with the spoon! A sweet little "A" line, doll-scale, bandana print dress with banded puff sleeves is the perfect backdrop to this doll's embroidered, crafts-style apron overlay. She has a 1940's illustration quality about her, combined with a contemporary aspect that is simply charming! The rhyme's namesake cow & a crescent moon feature prominently, echoed by flanking stars on the collar & a tiny rosebud at its center. Peter Pan collar is tacked to the apron, both with delicate contrast band edging. Her shiny Mary Jane shoes have side buckles & are subtly embossed to simulate leather. She wears knit knee socks & amazing tap pants with three rows of gathered lace. Her tawny colored, wedge cut hair with satin headband sets off her sparkling blue eyes! The soft sculpture dish & spoon, such a cheery pair, each with a bow accent, bring to life the lyrics of the nursery rhyme that inspired her creation!
