Offered here is a silver beaker with the monogram of Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria (Field Artillery Regiment Number 4 (Magdeburg) Feldartillerie-Regiment Prinz-Regent Luitpold von Bayern (Magdeburgisches) Nr. 4). The cup is inscribed to say, "The grateful white horse rider - Romberg -1899. The cup was likely a presentation from Prince Regent Luitpold to a soldier in the regiment as it was made by Berlin's fabled court silversmith J. Godet & Söhne. Under the management of Jean Fredric Godet the company became court jeweler to the Prussian Kings in 1828. The Godet family ran the business as J. Godet & Söhne from approximately 1864 to sometime after 1924. Marked at the bottom with 'GODET', 800, & halbmond & krone.
