USAF Challenge Metal 447th Air Base Sather Baghdad Iraq US Air Force usa Rare Coln Token Air Combat Command Expeditionary Group The 447th Air Expeditionary Group is a provisional United States Air Force unit assigned to the Air Combat Command (ACC) & United States Air Forces Europe (USAFE). The group was first active during World War II as the 447th Bombardment Group (Heavy). It participated in combat in the European Theater of Operations with B-17 Flying Fortress Sather Air Base or Camp Sather was a United States Air Force base on the west side of Baghdad International Airport. Camp Sather was named in memory of Combat Controller Staff Sergeant Scott Sather, the first enlisted Airman to die in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
