Description
This shield features a lion head carved out of wild cherry wood, attached to the center of the plywood base, carved geometrical patterns, & ornamental relief, as well as eight wooden elements symmetrically placed around the lion head. This shield is inspired by the Ancient Greek hoplite shields. Lion symbolism & meaning include majesty, courage, strength, protection, family, wisdom, & other admirable traits. The shield base is made out of 15mm thick birch plywood & finished with wood staining, painting, & varnishing with linen seed oil ( lion head ) & acrylic transparent coating. The lion head composition was carved separately on a 50 mm thick stabilized wild cherry or beech wood piece, & attached to the base.
