Description
This is a professionally-framed photograph which dates to the decade of the 1910s. The framing was done by Colbert Custom Framing of Naperville, some time in the 2000s. It has conservation glass with UV light-blocking protection. It is ready to hang! Of the three historic views of Danforth I have, this one is the largest. The image itself (inside the matting) measures 5" x 7". The photo (which must be very rare - I can't find another example of it anywhere) shows the Farmers Elevator Company, in Danforth. One sign says "Gasolene" with that spelling. This town is in Iroquois County. There is a church steeple just visible near the center of the image, to the left of the large smokestack. This is the old St. John's Lutheran Church (built 1875) on N. Front Road, which was replaced with the present church in 1952. The frame measures 12" x 9 3/4", & is 1' thick.
