Description

There seem to be endless iterations of mineral specimens from the Cave-In-Rock, Hardin County, Illinois mines! This piece, for instance, is comprised totally of the mineral barite, with hundreds of glassy-faced crystals of a curved rhomboid shape. The color ranges from bright white to light gray-tan & the crystals are opaque with very reflective curving surfaces. The phrase 'museum-grade', so often misused, is truly applicable here, as this grand piece was once a part of the displayed collection at the A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum in Houghton, Michigan. This piece comes with the museum's original identification label, which matches the small attached identification reference number on the specimen. Measures 4.5 x 3.25 x 2.1 inches..
