Description

70s, possibly late 60s, empire waist dress by "Irene Kasmer, Inc. - California." The dress features a peasant style bodice, with elasticized arm openings, empire waistline, & neckline that can be worn on of off the shoulder. The print is a bold neon pink, red, purple, copper/bronze, cream & white on a chocolate brown heavy synthetic satin. (I thought it was silk, but a burn test showed otherwise.) This dress gives off big "Bridgerton" energy, & would be fabulous on a date, at a festival, or pretty much anywhere, really. The overall condition is very good, with no visible flaws. This came without a belt, though there are thread loops. I've added a long brown satin ribbon that looks absolutely perfect. Measurements (laid flat): Bust ~20" (meant to be blousy & loose) Empire waist 10" unstretched (up to 19 stretched) Hip 25" Length from center top 47"; from shoulder ~52"; from empire waistline 39" Sleeve opening 5.5" unstretched (up to 8" stretched) NOTES: Irene Kasmer was born in 1926 in Bilky, Czechoslovakia, & came to the United States in 1948. She worked in Los Angeles as a fashion designer for Bell Sportswear in Los Angeles from 1948-1950, & lectured in costume design at the Los Angeles Trade Technology College from 1951-1954. She became chief designer & director at Ardee Sportswear, Los Angeles, 1951-1966. in 1958, she became the first California fashion designer to be featured in "Seventeen" magazine, with her patented 'hip huggers.' She founded her own company in 1966, with a focus on youth fashions. 1970S Flower Power Regency Style Maxi Dress "Irene Kasmer"
