Description

This is a rare find. It is a stainless dish with embossed center on front & back that commemorates the Los Angeles,Music Center which was built in 1964. It was from this center that a classical radio show for Station KFAC was broadcast. The show was known as " Luncheon At The Music Center" & was hosted by a well known disc jockey of classical music of the time, Thomas Cassidy. This show was broadcast from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in the center. And, yes, guests were interviewed & music played over the clanking of plates as the invited guests partook in lunch while being interviewed by the host, Thomas Cassidy. This show was sponsored by General Telephone. It ran from 1964 until 1975. The dish measures just under 5" in diameter & is stamped " Stainless Italy" There are raised images of the radio host talking in his microphone & also the facade of the center. This is a great piece of mid century aLos Angeles history. 1960's Commemorative Dish Of Los Angeles Music Center
