Here is a wonderful antique chain dog collar, probably from the mid to later 1800s Victorian period. This lovely collar would most likely fit a medium to larger sized dog, made from steel with a double looped chain to either side of a plaque. The plaque has a brass inlay which states Matthew Smith Halifax as seen in the photos, working adjustable lock which sadly has lost it key but can be opened & closed using a small pair of pliers (by screwing the central pin in & out). It is in very good condition for its age with just some normal rubbing & marks, no key, would benefit from a carful clean, please see all the photos as they are a true representation of the condition. A brilliant find for a collector.
