This listing is for register or measuring calipers. They measure distances in inches. You can use them on both the inner & the outer dimensions of things, simply open the arms to measure outer diameters & cross the arms to measure inner diameters. Caliper design is based on the beautiful little register calipers found in the renowned tool chest of H. O. Studley built in the late 19th century. Calipers are 4" tall. They measure distances between approximately 0" & 2 1/2". Calipers are laser cut out of brass. Markings are laser etched into the surface. I hand file them so the edges are smooth & then assemble them. Register Or Measuring Calipers
