5 Day DiscountThis is an iron & porcelain 'straphanger' or pivoting grab handle was made by the Rico manufacturing company of the United States in circa 1930 in a period industrial style. These handles were used in subway cars for standing passengers & were also referred to as 'grab handles'. This handle has been mounted on a piece of wood for wall decoration purposes. HALLMARKS: The cast iron handle has a heavy pivoting bracket at the top that is cast with the name "Rico", "Type 16A" & "Patented" & an engraved brass plaque at the bottom identifying it as originating from an New York city subway car. DIMENSIONS: Height: 19.5 in (49.53 cm)Width: 5.5 in (13.97 cm)Depth: 6.5 in (16.51 cm) CONDITION: Wear to the porcelain finish of the handle consistent with age & use. The entire handle may have been clear coated to inhibit rusting. Seller reserves all cleaning of these items to buyer.
