Description

Introduced in 1905 & running for 28 years the blanks these stems were cut from was molded glass. Then Heisey or someone else who bought the blanks, cut flowers on three facets of the bowl, & vine & leaf cuts on the other three facets. The stem is six sided & notched with deep cuts on each corner. Marked to the base with the Heisey "H" in a diamond. Listing is for a set of four. While the original blanks are not particularly rare, they can be found here & there, I have never seen the cut versions, & using my best sources can not find this particular cut in any Heisey reference, though I have had several Heisey cut pieces from the era that has a multi-wheel cut flower that was similar, though larger, & with slightly different shaped blooms. The best thing about these antique Nock & Nora glasses is that they are the best of both worlds, a pressed glass blank that has been cut on the stem & bowl. This gives you a virtually chip proof set of liquor glasses, but much classier than you can find easily. Each is in very good condition for what is likely 120 year old stemware - meaning no chips, no fleabites, no cloudiness, no serious scratching - but there are some original manufacturing signs that remain, including a slight line just below the inside of the rim where the inner mold met the hot glass. Otherwise none or little signs of previous use. Standing 4 1/4 inches tall, 3 3/4 inches at mouth, & on a foot of 2 1/2 inches. Capacity is just over 4 ounces to rim. A standard cocktail pour of the day would be no more than 2 1/2 or 3 ounces. Three sips, & no more of ice cold cocktail.
