Description
Antique Arts & Crafts British sterling silver & 9k rose gold match safe / vesta case. The piece features a beautiful hand engraved foliate design on the front & back, with a lovely rose gold section decorating half of one side. The top hinges open to store matches on the inside, & the bottom features a striker for lighting matches. The piece is in overall excellent condition, with a nice patina reflecting its age. Hallmarked "S&Bm" for Smith & Bartlam & marked "9 .375" for sterling silver & 9k gold. It also features hallmarks for the Chester assay office in 1907, & it was later inscribed with a personal date & monogram "J.A. May 14, 1911" The piece weighs 22.7 grams & measures 1-3/4" x 1 -3/8".
