The Egyptians believed the winged scarab was a potent symbol of immortality & resurrection so they made sure to bury all of their VIPS with this sacred talisman to ensure safe passage in the afterlife. They also celebrated & wore scarabs simply for luck & if you have the great good fortune to adorn yourself with this stunner, you will feel lucky everyday. This fab ring dates to the 1970's but it takes its inspiration from Egyptian antiquities & also from the revival period in the 1920's when King Tut's tomb was discovered & the Egyptian aesthetic was all the rage once more. The slight irregularities in the bezel let us know it was hand crafted & the rough, variegated turquoise cabochon has such a bold presence! This piece has some tiny hallmarks on the back tips of each wing but they are very hard to make out. It in excellent vintage condition - undoubtedly well cared for & loved in a previous life.
