From a life of hedonism to decades of asceticism in the desert with an unwavering love for God, I feel that she is one of the great saints that our times desperately need. in this icon, I depict her with St. Zosimas dressed in pure white as a sign of how deeply her humility & asceticism had cleansed her & how Zosimas was cleansed of his pride by witnessing her sanctity. She became a light for all. - The original icon depicted on this stretched canvas print was hand-painted by Anna Poloz Icons. It is inspired by the contemporary iconography movement in Lviv, Ukraine, which honors the Byzantine tradition of icon painting while also embracing new interpretations of the icon that focus on the pervasiveness of light & texture. These formal elements express the inner light that radiated from the lives of the saints. The original hand-painted icon was photographed & printed on stretched canvas as seen here. Acrylic paint was then applied over certain sections of the print to give it a partially handmade quality. This icon, like all the others, was made in the spirit of love, devotion, & prayer.
