Description
I tried to create a sweet replica of an African nun from the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, founded by the charismatic Mother Teresa of Calcutta. This soft sculptured doll is made with the technique of needle felting, using soft merino wool in white & blue. The doll is holding a rosary with a cross, all handmade using beads & carved cork. Nun & missionary Mother Teresa, known in the Catholic church as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, devoted her life to caring for the sick & poor. Mother Teresa was the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic congregation of women dedicated to helping the poor. Considered one of the 20th Century's greatest humanitarians, she was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta in 2016.
