Jade earrings in olive green Wyoming nephrite jade with natural weathered surface & oxidized rind. The plain tapered profile allows the natural quality of the rind to shine. My signature style of hand made ear wires in gold filled add to the distinctive style. The earrings I make seem simple. Each one is only a piece of jade & an ear wire. However, I've been working to refine them for over 20 years. The jade is cut to a variety of simple graphic shapes to contribute a quietly confident accent to the wearer. The jade pairs are light & comfortable since I grind the shapes very thinly. I balance the jade on my signature architectonic ear wires in such a way that they have a lot of lively movement. I make these earrings from a wide variety of true jades, both nephrite & jadeite, from around the world. Occasionally I make some in other stones, agates, aventurine, or chrysoprase, but not often. I make the wires from either sterling silver or gold-filled wires that are strong enough to hold their shape but thin enough to be very comfortable. The gold-filled wire has a heavy layer of 14 karat gold over a core of red brass, the gold making up 20% of the weight of the wire. I've never had any complaints about the gold wearing through.
