Storetry #103, Booty Call Poster Hand printed letterpress from movable type on recycled card stock. Approximately 17 X 27. part of a series of typographic prints, part poetry & part story. these stories came about from having the tv on while i was carving woodblocks at home, & i started writing curious sentences, that caught my ear, eventually i had a notebook full & crafted them into stories. in the great tradition of cut-ups, from William S. Burroughs & the beat poets. many years ago, these prints became the impetus for the idea that the typography is the art, & led to the new current work, of the screenplay as art. As a letterpress printmaker, who has spent a lifetime collecting all this typography, it seemed that the clear line of progression was that letters want to become words, words want to become sentences, & sentences want to become stories. unless of course, letters want to become symbols & marks to be used to draw & create with & then they turn into robots...but i digress.
