Antique Japanese Taisho Ukiyo-e Woodblock Print Beautiful Woman Nihon Shosui-sha We are offering an antique Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print from the Taisho era, site measuring about 7.25" wide x 11.75" high , & 12.5"wide x 17.25" high in the antique frame. Printed by the publisher Nihon Shosui-sha, this piece is a recreation of the masterworks of earlier times. This piece depicts a beautiful woman on a walk, peering down at some plants along the path. The kimono is detailed with unique patterns for each layer, & the bold colors of the underlayers stand out against the earthy tones of the rest of the piece. This piece is the perfect addition to any collection. Taishō (大正) is a period in the history of Japan dating from 30 July 1912 to 25 December 1926, coinciding with the reign of the Emperor Taishō. Ukiyo-e is a genre of Japanese traditional printing which was established during the Edo period & became popular among ordinary people in the 17th Century. Ukiyo-e prints also had an especially great influence on Impressionists, such as Vincent van Gogh & Paul Cezanne. This movement is called "Japonism." Very good condition with no damage to the print itself.
