Don't leave in direct sunlight (this preserves the beautiful colours for longer). How your purchase can make a difference The craft group in Rwanda is made up of 12 Ladies. They are widows & orphans who lost their families during the Genocide in 1994. After the genocide, they arrived in Kigali where life continued to be a challenge for them. They were all traumatized, with no hope to live at all. But they still had to eat, live, & look after their children. The group was started by two friends trying to find a way out of their situation - & they realized that they already had skills passed down to them through the generations. That was in 1996. They have since met & trained other ladies in similar positions. They started selling their products locally in Rwanda until they met Callum Henderson from Comfort International who could share their products outside of Rwanda. They work at one of the houses of one of the members but everyone can also work at home at any time. Their lives have totally changed, some have been able to buy homes & pay the school fees for their children. They are now one of the most successful artisan groups in Kigali.
