Scottish Thistle Wax Seal Necklace Sterling Silver Handmade Artisan Jewelry A very detailed solid sterling silver thistle pendant that I've made in my studio which measures 1" long & 3/4" wide. I've finished it with great care, the rustic patina gives a convincing ancient look to the piece. The chain is a 1.8mm flat cable sterling silver in lengths available in the pull down menu, the first choice being the pendant without a chain. I do take my photos on a macro setting on my camera, the images here are highly enlarged to show detail. The national emblem of Scotland, one thistle is said to have saved an entire Scottish army. A thousand years ago, during the Vikings invasion of Scotland, an advancing enemy warrior stepped on a thistle & cried out in pain inadvertently waking the sleeping Scotsmen. Scottish King Kenneth III was so grateful that he adopted the thistle as his nation's emblem. A review from a lovely customer, "Thank you for the beautiful pendant.
