While the body does produce some L-Serine, it does not do so in high enough quantities to meet all the body's demand for it so an external supply from diet or supplementation is recommended. Recommended Dosage For general use as a supplement, our recommended L-Serine dosage is 2000 mg per day. (4x 500 mg capsules.) L-Serine is water soluble & so does not need to be taken with food. It is often used in the evening, as it has a beneficial effect on sleep quality. While we typically don't recommend a dosage of over 6,000 mg per day there have been studies showing its safe use at dosages as high as 15,000 mg per day. We recommend avoiding doses this high as there is a much higher potential for side effects. Side Effects L-Serine is well tolerated with few side effects, but some have been reported especially at high doses.
