"Skyjacked" features an all-star cast led by Charlton Heston (the pilot) & Yvette Mimieux (head stewardess). A stand-out among a bumper crop of disaster films during this era, the movie is a fast-paced & efficient exercise in claustrophobic suspense. This riveting moment-to-moment hijacking of a commercial jet focuses on a small group of first-class passengers including a middle-aged couple, a senator & his son, a groovy "hippie girl" (Susan Dey, on leave from "The Partridge Family"), a jazz musician & of course, a pregnant woman, who is due at any minute! Also aboard is a young sergeant (James Brolin a.k.a. Marcus Welby MD) & last, but not least is Leslie Uggams making her illustrious film debut, as an assistant stewardess. Despite unintentionally hilarious dialogue which, let's face it, goes with the territory, the film has more than enough action to maintain altitude. "Skyjacked" was a massive hit when it was first released & dominated the small screen as well when it was shown on TV as "Sky Terror".
