African queen picture jasper, or African queen landscape jasper is one of the well known picture jaspers. This one originates in the Kalahari desert in Namibia & the scenes are reminiscent of the desert landscapes near where it occurs. This exceptional cushion shaped cabochon measures 34.6mm x 25.3mm x 7.0mm at its widest points. It has a medium dome & a 3.1mm girdle. All of the cabochons I cut & polish have a tapered girdle & a slight bevel on the back edge. The fronts, sides, & flat backs are polished to a high gloss finish, unless the material won't allow for it, therefore the cabochons that I make are equally suitable for setting, wrapping, or display. Since stone is a natural material, it is possible that there are minor pits & imperfections in the cabochons that I make, but I do my absolute best to turn out only the best pieces possible.
