Description

This 1930 Jackson Bell model 62 peaked top cathedral radio features an Art Deco wood cabinet housing a 6-tube TRF AM chassis. The LA-based manufacturer also offered this cabinet with a swan in the grill, a sunburst, & a peacock. This Fleur de Lis grill with the often-missing Velvet Tone badge at lower center are fairly hard to come by. in the just-completed electronic restoration, all components were tested & the following were replaced: 2 tubes, all capacitors, 2 resistors, the tone control & the power cord. An antenna extension wire was added & all tuning circuits were aligned. It plays well with good clear tone, full range of volume, good reception & selectivity across the dial. The dial light works & the chassis is free of corrosion. Dimensions are 15 1/2"H x 13"W x 8 1/2"D. The richly grained wood cabinet is solid with all original veneer showing no evidence of previous lifting, patching or repair, with what appears to be its original finish which displays beautifully, as the pictures show. It has its original knobs, front Velvet Tone brass nameplate, brass Jackson Bell escutcheon, dial, grill cloth, 8" Lansing speaker behind the grill, factory paper labels, the Jackson Bell metal ID label in back, & grillcloth. It will be packed with great care, well-padded in a bubble-wrap cocoon with soft foam outer layer, & shipped fully insured with tracking. Free shipping offer doesn't apply to PO Box addresses, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam & APO.
