Vintage Musical Clown by Schmid. Hand Crafted Wood & Plays "The Entertainer" in working Condition. 6.5" Tall & 4.25" Wide at the base. Schmid sticker on the bottom that reads The Entertainer, Schmid No. 254 Made in Japan. There is also a small stamp in the wood reading Schmid with additional illegible text. It is hand crafted with a wood clown, a performing dog & a red & white ball. Each of the pieces move while the music plays. The dog & ball rotate clockwise for a few revolutions & then switch & go the other direction. The movement is good, but the music & the movement are very slow. During my research I found that this slow movement seems to be typical for this music box. There is a wood peg in the base that is pulled out for playing or pushed in to make the music & motion stop. The clown's suit is a little dusty from age & there are small signs of wear on the wooden base consistent with vintage age.
