Vintage Ned Krouse of Krouse Pottery large ceramic raku bowl, freestanding of wall-hanging, features a mosaic like top in shades of brown, blue & yellow, light beige underneath, signed on the bottom of the foot. Ned Krouse has been doing raku for 30+ years & calls himself a contemporary American raku artist. He produces one-of-a-kind decorative & sculptural ceramics. Raku originated in 16th century Japan as part of the tea ceremony. Today's potters enjoy the exciting hands-on raku process that produces unpredictable & unique results that come with the use of copper glazes & the post firing reduction. in very good vintage condition, naturally occurring raku crazing.
