This antique sampler reproduction from Kathleen Littleton of Cross Stitch Antiques, has a stunning floral border surrounding a religious verse. The original sampler was stitched by a young Mary Walsh in 1845. Extensive research & a clue of a similar sampler posted on social media reveals that Aglish is not a last name but a place name in County Kilkenny, Ireland. How did young Mary stitch this sampler in the height of the deadly Potato Famine? The verse takes on a more meaningful poignance now. The more one discovers, the more questions are raised. A provenance is included with the pattern as to how the original was discovered. Model stitched on 36 count Vintage Sand Dune by Lakeside Linen using Needlepoint Inc Silk threads. Stitch Count: 205W x 245H. Finished approx: 11.39"W x 13.61"H. Pattern includes color photo, black & white stitch chart, floss color list (DMC conversion), & instructions.
