Rainforest Plum (Eugenia candolleana) Plant in 1 Gallon nursery pot. 5 inches tall. Rainforest Plums are native to Eastern Brazil where they are highly appreciated & grown in home gardens. The fruits also gathered from the wild. The dark purple fruits are mainly eaten fresh. The firm & succulent pulp is sweet & pleasant. The fruits are also used in jams, jellies & juices. Rainforest Plums require a location in full sun but will also tolerate part shade. The plants need to be protected from freezes & grow fairly slow. They usually begin to fruit when 2 or 3 years old & fruit several times per year. Once they start flowering, regular irrigation is necessary in order for a heavy fruit set.
