Voigtländer Prominent I is a 35mm film interchangeable lens rangefinder camera, manufactured by Voigtländer & Sohn AG, Braunschweig, in former West Germany. The Type 127 was in production between 1950-1958. The Prominent was introduced 1950 as a counterpart to the famous Leica & Contax cameras, & featured astonishing new technical details. It was the first rangefinder camera with leaf shutter & interchangeable lenses. Prominent was the lowest-priced of the top German cameras & the most intelligent system. It afforded the highest scope with the least equipment, but the public was not ready for such a product. It is equipped with a Ultron 50mm F2 lens, capable of nice optic results. The camera is in fantastic condition & looks almost brand new. The viewfinder & lens are both bright & clean.
