Up for sale is a beautiful piece of Colombianite from the Cauca River of Colombia. These stones are found by the Muisca Tribe & referred to as "Piedra Rayo" which translates to "Stone of Lightning" or "Light Stone". These beautiful gems are still being studied & fully understood. Some theorize them to be tektite or impactite glass - fused in the fires of a meteorite impact. They have even recently discovered a crater to support this theory known as the Cali Crater. The Cali Crater is located in the Cauca Sub-Basin between the Western & Central Colombian Cordillera, SE of Cali. Some researchers claim chemical analysis of these amazing glasses shows higher than usual levels of Aluminum & Titanium as well which further support the theory. They call these tektites Calitites (after the Cali crater), & estimate their age somewhere around 3 million years old (the Pliocene Age). The other theory claims that these are a unique form of weathered obsidian. in this model these stones are the ancient remnants, or 'hearts' of grandfather obsidian boulders. The last remaining gems of their 'species'. Natural glasses which have gone through many states of decomposition & recompositing over millions of years. Regardless, they are stones of wisdom & transformation. Millions of years old, their energy is calming, empowering, & transformative. Their translucency & ability to capture natural light are unparalleled among the family of natural glasses. They appear black when set upon a surface; however, when held near a light source for examination, they will capture even small fragments of light to become illuminated. Fairly indirect light will even dance within the interior of these stones. Their round shapes make them perfect for holding in the palm. Ideal for meditation & reki practices, they are said to clear negative energy & illuminate areas of the shadow self for healing. They are truly ancient, mystifying, & wonderful.
