The base historical map is originally prepared by R. Hartwich et al & published by the Federal Institute for Geosciences & Natural Resources digitally rendered & processed based on modern elevation data, reflecting impressive landforms & amazing highlights/shadows. Source: European Soil Data Centre (ESDAC) These maps are digitally rendered topographies that have 3D effects, realistic shading, & very detailed features on 2D prints. They are not 3D-raised relief maps (printed on paper). Multi-resolution elevation datasets; Digital Elevation Models (DEM) coverage of Earth is used as bare earth to create these maps. Mainly SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) data is processed & rendered based on its elevation profile. -A map of any place in the world you want can be produced.
