I was told this is a Chinese Yixing Zisha painted clay teapot & it has a Tian Fu Tao Yi mark (maybe that's the incised marking inside the lid?) but I don't really know the history or the origin of this lovely teapot. What a fabulous piece! This hand made & hand painted teapot is in the shape of & painted to be a tree stump. Both the sides have a painted circular wavy pattern to represent the inside of a tree. The removable lid on the top has a pomegranate for the knob, leaves & a couple buds. A darling little tree frog with webbed feet & big eyes is underneath the handle on the right. The inside of the lid is incised in Chinese. The back side is also incised in Chinese. See all pictures. in great pre-loved vintage condition. I just noticed one of the little "points" on the pomegranante is broken off, but it doesn't take away from the beauty of this little teapot. See last 3 photos.
