Description

Buffalo Nickels were produced from 1913 to 1938. in 1938 it was replaced by the Jefferson nickel. in 2004 & 2005 the Jefferson reverse changed from the historical Monticello to commemorate an event. This series of four different nickels is called The Westward Journey Nickels. in 2005 the buffaloes that we have not seen since 1938 reappeared Obverse (heads): The design bears a new likeness of Thomas Jefferson based on a bust of Jefferson by Jean-Antoine Houdon. The "Liberty" inscription is based upon Jefferson's own handwriting Reverse (tails): Features a scene of the Pacific Ocean as they might have been first viewed by the Lewis & Clark expedition. An inscription reflects an excited entry in the journal of Captain William Clark on November 7, 1805: "Ocean in view! O! The joy!". Offered coins hand painted with the appearance of a gold plated coin. To be clear, there is no gold content in the coating, & is merely for decorative purposes. A nice addition to a collection, as a gift, party favors or whatever your imagination may conjure up. Thanks so much for stopping by! 2005 Jefferson - Westward Journey Nickel Ocean in View Reverse Beautifully Golden Toned
