Originally this instrument was from Africa~ Called Kalimba! The sound it produces when playing is so relaxing to the mind & is so light that you can carry it anywhere - The keys have a piano pitch that go from low to high~ the longer keys have the deeper rings, & as you move up, so do the ring tones! Quite a amazing instrument for its size~ measures approx 8" long x 5,5" wide~ Still in great condition ~ & we've totally enjoy the Relaxing sounds, as we have learned some beautiful natural ring songs, just by plucking with are thumbs ~ would be nice to display as musical piece of art~ very natural & earthy looking~ FYI~. mbira, also called mbila sansa, kilembe, likembe, timbrh, or thumb piano, plucked idiophone (instrument whose sounding parts are resonant solids belonging to the body of the instrument itself)or more specifically, a lamellaphonethat is unique to Africa & widely distributed throughout the continent. 17 Keys Kalimba Musical Thumb Piano~ Made By Illinois Artist~ Mixed Woods Steel Keys~
