Description

Colorado photo. This is a classic Colorado photograph of an old mill near Marble, Colorado called Crystal Mill. in 1892 this wooden powerhouse commonly called a watermill was a compressor station which used water turbine from the Crystal River. Getting back to see this historic site is a real challenge. The road is not suitable for driving unless you are using a high wheel jeep or an ATV. I decided to hike to the Mill which was 13 miles round trip. I had heard that the scenery along the route was really worth while. On my trip, I almost didn't make it. It started raining & I was concerned about getting my camera & lens wet. But I tucked them into my back pack & trudged along mile after mile. Several people in jeeps heading back to town offered me a ride back but I was so determined to finally see & photograph this mill & I decided to keep going. Finally after 2 hours the rain stopped & I was rewarded with this beautiful shot. This beautiful landscape picture comes in fine art paper prints, ready to hang museum quality canvas or the ultimate brilliance of high end superb metal. I love taking pictures of some of the most beautiful places on this amazing planet. I spent most of my work life in the radio broadcasting arena first as a D.J spinning records while still in high school. Slowly I worked my way up the ladder & eventually became the President of a radio company operating radio stations all over the country. My last 15 years were spent in Colorado & it was there I started taking pictures of the amazing scenery in the Rocky Mountains. I retired early from radio after a severe hearing loss came upon me suddenly. This shattered by ability to enjoy music anymore which was so awful & hard to get used to. We moved back to Nashville where our family lived. Not knowing what I would do next. One day some friends saw a few of my mountain pictures in our home & they said"this stuff is goodpeople would buy these". I didn't believe them at first but I kept hearing it from other friends. One day while on vacation in Breckenridge, Co. with zero confidence, I took a few of my canvas pictures to town. To my amazement the first store said "Yes, these are good....our customers will love these". They ordered 6 pictures which totaled less than $400, but to me it was like I hit the jackpot. I was so excited which is a little funny because in my radio career I managed 8 figure budgets. I was on top of the world & a new career was born. Today my landscape pictures are carried throughout the country. I find great satisfaction in capturing beautiful places on earth & sharing that beauty God created for us to enjoy.
