Description

This gorgeous textile measures 26-inches wide by 78-inches long, plus fringe. Mayan symbols of grains of corn, fish, & ducks are woven into the rebozo to tell the story of Lago Atitlán. It was dyed with basil, indigo, hibiscus, & chilca. It was woven on a back strap loom in the highlands of Guatemala. It could used as a table runner. It could be cut & made into stunning pillow covers. It is very beautiful. The thread was hand dyed by the weaving cooperative in San Juan La Laguna. The textile itself was woven by an association of women called Voz de los Tz'utujiles. The last picture is of a talented weaver using a backstrap loom.
