I spy items all the time that end up making perfect components for gift sets. This is a perfect example. I thought it would be really wonderful as a end of year Teacher Gift set for someone that appreciates a vintage vibe. This is a set of two vintage Dictionaries for Children, one from 1953 & one from 1957. They look great together & it would be fun to use as a compare & contrast exercise for the evolution of words included & changes in definitions over that time period. Tie them up with a bow & they would be ready to present with a heartfelt handwritten note. The set incudes: 1 - The Winston Dictionary for Children Shorter Edition is Copyright 1957 by The John C. Winston Company. It appears to be focused on late elementary aged students. There are at least one small black & white illustration on each set of pages. The cover is a light green cloth with a fountain pen image on the front. There is a cool Appendix at the back with Tables of Weights, Measures & Standards. The pages are in really nice condition. The only writing in the book is DO NOT REMOVE FROM THIS ROOM written in ink across the top of the front cover. (I thought a teacher would appreciate this sentiment!) The cover has edge wear & a stain on the back. The front & binding look great. Measures - 6 1/4" x 8 3/4" x 1 3/4" 2 - The Webster's Elementary Dictionary, A Dictionary for Boys & Girls Copyright 1953 by American Book Company. There are also 8 full-page illustrations in color throughout the book. The cover is a light navy blue cloth with wonderful graphics on the front. There is a cool Appendix at the back with Sates, Foreign Countries, Chief Cities & Populations & Tables of Weights, Measures & Standards. The pages are in really nice condition. There is no writing in the book. The cover has edge wear & corner scuffs. They look great stacked together.
