Description

This is an original document, 105 years old, dating to June 1917. It is a diploma, on heavy paper, for Ottawa Public Schools (the "Grammar Department," or elementary school) in Ottawa, LaSalle County, Illinois. This particular diploma was given to Dorothy Funk Egan, who was born in 1903. Her name is hand-written in wonderful calligraphy. There is a beautiful engraving of a teacher & pupil on the document. The document is in good condition, & has been stored away from light for nearly its whole existence. The document measures approx. 14" x 17" in size, & is suitable for framing. There are four original signatures, all in brown inks, of local educational leaders - two members of the Board of Education, plus the district's principal & Superintendent. These were: Christopher J. Byrne; Hertha M. Hill, Henry Mayo; & Elmer E. Roberts. The document was printed by B. C. Kassell of Chicago. The document, once framed, would look great in your office, guest room, or living room. It would make a great gift for someone with ties to Ottawa, or with an interest in its history! Free local pickup is available in Geneva. Thanks for looking!
