The object: Taisto Kaasinen's amazing & rare vintage Wasp / Bee figurine with a glossy blue glaze on wings & stinger on end of body. Designed in 1960s for Arabia. A fantastical mid-century piece! in excellent vintage condition - back appears chipped, possibly where there was a metal hook, price adjust accordingly but does not affect the piece otherwise. The artist Taisto Kaasinen (1918-1980) was one of Finland's leading ceramic artists in the 20th century. He was part of the Nordic tradition aiming for warm-hearted, humorous, & sometimes subtly ironic design. After his art studies, Taisto worked for the Arabia & Upsala-Ekeby factories for more than 25 years. He became a prominent designer of animal & people figurines.
