ATHENS TETRADRACHM SILVER COIN PENDANT Athena Tetradrachm originally minted 431-413 BC & depicted the wise owl. The inscription reads ΑΘΕ, a monogram attributed to the goddess Athena, the virgin goddess of wisdom, who was also the protectress of Athens. Head of Athena right, wearing round earrings & crested Attic helmet ornamented with three olive leaves above the visor & spiral palmette on the bowl. The almond-shaped eye is in archaic depictions of the goddess. It was made in Greece, with a diameter of 24mm, & weighs approximately 9 g.
