Description

The Charlie B Gallery & Vasefinder Ceramic Art Museum of Carson City, Nevada are offering this studio pottery decorated vessel created from the Patricia Ann Probst Collection. Pat's last major workplace as a potter was at the Gene Brenner Pottery of Sebring Florida. That is where this plate was made. On October 10, 2006, I called Patricia Ann Probst to discuss her important history & that call resulted in this small biography: Patricia Ann Probst was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She received her undergraduate degree from Hood College of Frederick Maryland, where she majored in art & minored in philosophy. She studied briefly at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. While at the University of Iowa, she was a student of James & Nan McKinnell. It was at the University of Iowa that she first worked with clay in 1963, as a sculpture & pottery student. She would continue her studies at Alfred, where she was a student of Val Cushing & William Parry. She received her M.F.A. from Alfred in 1967. She worked for the Bennington Pottery of Vermont as a potter in residence from the mid-1960's through the early 1970's. After the Bennington Pottery, she started her own studio & lived primarily in the Northeast region of the United States. in 1989, she settled in Sebring, Florida. For almost 15 years, she worked for the Brenner Pottery of Sebring as a production potter & sculptor. in 2006, she moved to Murphy, North Carolina, where she plans to start another studio & work for herself. Her work in clay is both functional & non-functional in content. She also has worked as a painter. Pat exhibited at the Syracuse Ceramic Nationals in 1964, 1966 & 1968. This decorated plate is signed Brenner Pottery, as shown. This object came directly from the Estate of Patricia Ann Probst (1941-2016). There is a very minor fleck at the foot, which may have occurred from kiln removal-I cannot emphasize how minor it is. There are minor marks over the surfaces from normal use. There are original factory glaze blips & pops over the surface, as shown. This is a very special plate formsuper visual appeal. All fragile merchandise is shipped using the "double box" process. MY reflections are present in the images Circa 1990 Original Brenner Pottery Plate From Patricia Ann Probst | 1941-2016 Estate Collection Decorated Signed Stunner
