Made of fine, handcrafted pewter, each piece is 1 1/3" long & 1/3" wide. Two knotted 28" leather strings & two split key rings included. Packaged in an organza bag with descriptive tag & insert. Ogham is the earliest written representation of the Irish language. It is most commonly written vertically & is read from bottom to top. It is believed that Ogham was first used in Ireland & parts of western England, Scotland & Wales between the 2nd & 6th centuries. Its main use was to mark territory by being carved into rocks & trees. Today there are approximately 400 surviving examples. (Our pewter pendants are sculpted to resemble the blemishes & imperfections of stone. The natural process that forms a patina on pewter will occur over time, giving the pendant the intended look of an ancient, weathered Ogham stone. If you prefer to maintain a sheen to your Ogham pewter pendant, please use one of the many simple techniques to polish pewter jewelry such as massaging baking soda onto the moistened pendant & rinsing with warm water. Our pewter pendants are hand-sculpted into resin models, cast into pewter molds then poured & tumbled. They are not engraved, inscribed or etched & therefore we do not offer them personalized.)
