Presented is an antique set of 7 porcelain or fine china lunch or salad plates made by Spode Copeland of England during the mid 1800s. This set was retailed by Gilman Collamore Co, one of the most high end retailers in New York, which operated between the 1820s & the 1880s. Each plate has a very decorative, off white or vanilla rim that is hand painted with medallions of roses & lovely landscape scenes. Each of the landscape vignettes is unique, not just because they are hand painted but because they each show a different scene mountains, ancient ruins by the seaside, a hill & countryside fence, etc. The rim & center have bands of gilt decoration, while the borders of the vignettes are finely done in raised, textured gold. The underside of the plate is marked Spode Copelands China England & it has a retailers'a mark for Gilman Collamore & Co, New York. This set is in excellent overall condition.
