Vintage Unused US Postage stamps of the: 5 cent Airmail Transport Plane & Beacon AIrmail stamp. Issued July 25, 1928 Scott catalog #: C11 in an all-out effort to increase the use of airmail service, the Post Office Department reduced the rate to 5¢ per ounce. Beginning with this issue, airmail stamps were restricted to exclusive use on mail carried by air & could no longer be used as a substitute for ordinary postage. The design features the beacon light that is atop Sherman Hill in the Rocky Mountains. One Mint unused postage stamps with original gum as issued by the Post Office. These stamps are genuine & valid to use as postage for current mailing. Be sure to use enough total postage to meet the current postage rate for mailing a letter if you want to use them for mailing.
