This is an antique, bevel-matted engraving, from an old newspaper, FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED NEWSPAPER, published in 1884. The prints in this series are printed on what is called rag paper, an antique paper that is stronger & far more enduring than the newspaper we know today. The print is matted in an off-white acid free matte & is backed by a black acid free back-board which is NOT ATTACHED TO THE PRINT, but which should be kept with the print when framed. (Note: in some of the pictures the matte may appear to be tinted blue or pink. That is my camera. No tears, creasing or folds. A really fine image. Excellent definition. Nice clean, sharp lines. This print is about 135 years old & guaranteed to be original. It's an authentic old print from the aforementioned publication, & NOT A REPRODUCTION. The visible part of the print is about 10" x 15" (including the border around the print). Matted the print measures 16" x 20". This is a standard size matte that will fit into a standard size frameno costly custom frames required. About The Mats All of our prints are bevel matted in a very high quality, simple off-white/ivory matting. The backing, WHICH IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE PRINT, also meets the same high quality standard. All mats are acid-free & the small piece of tape used to attach the print to the top of the mat is artists tape. This print is truly ready to be framed & preserved.
