She was trying to find rye bread for her family like the bread they were used to eating in Finland. No real rye bread was to be found for sale anywhere so she got her starter from old Finnish immigrants & started making rye bread in the traditional manner. She has been baking bread ever since & has made thousands of loaves for our markets. She follows a recipe which is hundreds of years old & uses only organic rye flour, sea salt & water. No yeast is used; instead, the bread is made over several days using nature's fermentation process. Now you can buy her original starter, in dehydrated form; ready for baking in just three days! Easy-to-follow instructions for activating, growing & maintaining the starter, & recipes for making the bread are included with your purchase. Quantity 1 = 1 packet of dehydrated sourdough rye starter & instructions. No bread is included. As we are mindful of packaging waste, you may receive your purchased item(s) in recycled or up-cycled materials suitable for shipment.
