This McNicol China "Vernon" 6½-ounce "Wheat" shape footed egg cup has been lightly if ever used. Produced on a white blank, it's in excellent condition with no chips, dings, scratches, stains, or dishwasher damage. The glaze is extremely smooth, shiny & slippery all over, even on the outer rim & belly. There are no utensil or stacking marks in the center. It measures 3" tall, 3¼" across the rim & 2" across the base. A standard restaurant ware saucer in white, pink or blue would nicely serve as an underplate. Unfortunately, McNicol's date codes are undeciphered, but we do know that the backstamp seen here was used from the 1930s to 1960s. This pattern appears on the rim of image 5 on page 55 of the 1951 McNicol catalog.
